UTM Cleaner

Paste a link to strip its utm_ campaign tags and ad click IDs. Parameters the page actually needs are kept exactly as they were.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to Zurl.

How to use the UTM Cleaner

  1. Step 1: Paste the tracked link.

  2. Step 2: Untick any tracking parameter you want to keep.

  3. Step 3: Copy the clean URL.

Before and after

https://example.com/page?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=test&id=123

becomes

https://example.com/page?id=123

The id parameter survives because it is part of what the page shows. The three utm_ tags only tell an analytics tool where the click came from.

Why the encoding is preserved

Many cleaners rebuild the query string from scratch, which quietly rewrites %20 as + or reorders parameters. That can break signed URLs and some APIs. Zurl removes whole key=value pairs from the original text and leaves the rest untouched.

Frequently asked questions

Which parameters does the UTM cleaner remove?
Every parameter whose name starts with utm_ (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, utm_id and any custom utm_ tag). With the option enabled, it also removes the advertising click identifiers gclid (Google), fbclid (Facebook), msclkid (Microsoft), dclid (Display & Video 360) and ttclid (TikTok).
Will it break the link?
It only removes tracking parameters and keeps everything else exactly as it was, byte for byte, including parameter order and encoding. Tracking parameters are ignored by the destination page itself, so removing them does not change what loads. If you are unsure about one, untick it to keep it.
Why remove tracking parameters?
Shorter, cleaner links are easier to read and share. Removing them also stops the link from carrying the original campaign attribution — and click IDs — to everyone you share it with.
What about other parameters like ref or id?
They are left alone, because some sites need them to show the right page. To remove any parameter you choose, use the URL parameter remover.
Is my URL sent to a server?
No. Cleaning runs entirely in your browser.
