URL Screenshot
Capture how any public web page looks on desktop or mobile, or grab the full scrolling page. Rendered in an isolated browser — nothing runs on your device.
How to use the URL Screenshot
Step 1: Paste the page URL.
Step 2: Choose desktop or mobile, and full page if needed.
Step 3: Select Capture and download the image.
Uses for a website screenshot
- Checking how a page renders on a phone without owning one.
- Recording what a page looked like at a point in time, for a bug report or a client.
- Seeing a suspicious page without visiting it yourself.
- Verifying that a landing page is live before sending a campaign.
Limits
Screenshots are the most resource-intensive tool on Zurl, so they are limited to a handful per hour for each visitor. Each capture times out after roughly 40 seconds, and images over 4 MB are rejected. Viewport captures are cached for an hour, so repeating the same capture is instant.
See the page another way
To see what the page tells social networks rather than what it looks like, use the metadata extractor. To check whether it loads at all, use the URL checker.
Frequently asked questions
- How are screenshots taken?
- The page is loaded in a real browser running on an isolated rendering service — not on Zurl’s servers and never in your own browser. The image is returned to Zurl and shown to you. Desktop uses a 1280×800 viewport; mobile uses a 390×844 viewport at 2× pixel density.
- What is a full-page screenshot?
- Instead of capturing only what fits in the window, the browser scrolls and captures the entire length of the page. Very long pages may be cut off by the rendering service’s size limits.
- Why is the screenshot blank or showing a cookie banner?
- Some sites block automated browsers, show consent dialogs to new visitors, or load content only after user interaction. The screenshot shows what a first-time visitor sees, which is often exactly what you want to check.
- Can I screenshot a page on my intranet?
- No. URLs that point to — or whose domain resolves to — localhost, private networks, link-local addresses or cloud metadata endpoints are refused before anything is sent to the rendering service.
- Is it safe to screenshot a suspicious link?
- Safer than opening it yourself: the page runs on an isolated service, not your device. It is a way to see what a page looks like, not a security scan — use the URL safety checker for reputation.
